"Liebster" is German for "dearest", from Liebe, the verb 'to love'. This award is given to bloggers who are up and coming and who have less than 200 followers. I gotta say that as soon as I hit 200, I'm hosting a MASSIVE giveaway with multiple winners, because you guys truly make my life happier. Until then, I'm flattered to receive blog awards like this one, and to pass them along to other amazing bloggers.
It seemed like a fun, egotistical adventure. And also, I had a lot of recipes and craft stuff to share.
What's your favorite element in a book?
Characters. If you can write unique characters with strong voices, I am hooked. You could have them sit in a room and read phone books, but as long as they're growing as characters I will keep reading.
How did you come up with your blog name?
My original handle, back in the days of BBS and AOL, was ArtemisHi. Artemis for the Greek goddess of the hunt, wild places, young women, and the moon. By the time I discovered Blogger, every permutation of Artemis was taken, but I realized that it went further than that....I really feel that inside every woman is a goddess. And so long as she honors the world around her and herself (in my opinion, through mindful living, creativity, and bettering her environment), she is in her full power. I'm still getting the handle of it, myself, but if my inner goddess can inspire you to pay more attention to YOUR inner goddess, the world is a better place.
What are your hopes for your blog?
It's become less about sharing tips as it's grown, and more about sharing my personal silliness. I think that's actually a negative thing, so I'd like to focus it back on recipes, crafts, sewing projects, book reviews, and sustainable living tips.
What's your favorite book?
I lack the willpower to pick just one.
How many books are in your to-be-read pile?
I have two bookshelves in my house. As soon as I finish reading a book, I send it out as a RAK, or to a friend, or in a swap, or donate it to the library. So every book on my bookshelf is in my TBR pile (I'm guessing that's over 100 books at this point).
How many books do you read a year?
It varies, depending on how stressful my year is, but I'd say I average 17 books per year. I think the year I was unemployed I read close to 60, but I aim for 1-2 per month.
When did you start blogging?
I actually had to look this up! May 12, 2009 was my first post. I just missed celebrating my three year anniversary.
Do you review every book you read?
No, otherwise this blog would be entirely Book Reviews. I try to post reviews of books I found particularly interesting, or amazing, and indie books whenever possible. A lot of new YA get buzz on large-scale book review blogs, so it feels redundant for me to post my review of them. I'd prefer to shine a light on different and older reads. And I'm aiming for one book review per week, at this point.
How do you pick a book?
Usually, someone has a book on their RAK list that I have, so I read that one as a priority so I can send it out ASAP. And any author who asks me to review their book has first dibs on my time. Outside of that, it's random selection from my bookshelves.
What would you like to tell your followers?
THANK YOU! And also....what do you want me to post more of? Or less of? I take requests! :)
