It's Winter here in the pacific northwest, and that means cold temperatures and plenty of wet. But me, I love dresses, and I'm not about to let weather keep me from feeling girly (and not having to worry about a tight waistband). That's where thick tights and leggings come in.
My favorite is No nonsense tights and leggings
, which is a reliable and fashionable brand of tights that I've used since I was knee high to a grasshopper. You can buy them at just about any drugstore, and they're inexpensive, so even my broke self can buy them. I was raised to wear only nude tights or black leggings, so the fact that No nonsense now carries colored
tights/leggings opens a world of possibilities.
I see colored leggings and tights as an opportunity to create a statement piece. And since I'm all about the teal, I instantly thought: Peacock!

Although, given most of my dresses are in the blue range, I think I could rock a pair of light purple or golden yellow or gunmetal silver leggings as well.
What about you? How would you incorporate colored tights or leggings into an outfit?
If you were also raised with black/nude only, and are having trouble figuring out how to wear colored leggings and still look cosmopolitan, you can consult fashion expert Jill Martin, the new style expert for No nonsense.
She'll be posting vignettes regarding how to pair colored tights and leggings without looking five years old. Yay!
