We all want to eat more healthy, spend less money, and still enjoy our experience of food. And for as much as I see "eat this, not that" stuff out there, key gaps are occurring in the "tasty, healthy, AND cheap" department. So I'm rectifying that right here, right now*.
(iceberg or romaine lettuce)
- Healthier (very high in beta carotene, vitamin K, vitamin C, lutein, zeaxanthin, calcium, and has anti-cancer properties)
- More versatile (can be eaten raw in burritos and sandwiches and the like, or cooked/sauteed/steamed/baked/frozen and still retains its texture and nutrients)
- Less expensive (especially bought unpackaged, because it isn't as popular as other lettuces)
- Tasty (even for a non-lettuce lover like me)
*All statements are based on my own experience buying, cooking, and eating these things.
