Does it seem like I've been really makeup-focused lately?
I have another mineral makeup and skin care product review for you!
I recently received Mineral Hygienics makeup for review. They offer a complete line of everything, but I got a version of their Starter Kit.
They sent the kit in a pretty pink bag with instructions, information about the products, and everything!
The kit included: a kabuki brush, 3 shades (along the same spectrum) to be used as foundation and cover-up depending on my skin tone match, a bronzer, and a translucent finishing powder. And Laffy Taffy, because this company clearly rocks.
OK, here's me sans face makeup.
After one layer of "Light Golden" as foundation, using the kabuki brush.
You can see it covers the red nicely, without settling into my large pores or wrinkles. Plus it doesn't obliterate my freckles.
Next, I used "Fairly Light" as cover-up under my eyes. In the future, I'll use "Light" as cover-up (I stupidly didn't realize that "Fairly Light" is closer to "Fair", their lightest shade. So, in order from lightest to darkest of the "Light" spectrum of their powders, it goes: Fairly Light, Light, Light Golden).
Then I brushed a very light layer of "Cool Kiss" bronzer on my forehead, cheekbones, nose, and jawline.
Finally, I finished it with a layer of "Silk Translucent" finishing powder, which added a softness to my complexion without making it look unnaturally light hued.
Since then, I've used it as my stage makeup with "Guys & Dolls". Most of the girls use stage makeup brands and liquid foundation, but I really prefer Mineral Hygienics for its ability to layer and to NOT irritate my skin or cause breakouts.
I'm still figuring out how to layer effectively (always, it comes down to me putting on too much of a light shade and looking ridiculously whey-faced), but this brand tends to be forgiving. If I put on too much of anything, I just blend blend blend blend blend with the brush and eventually it evens out well.
I definitely recommend Mineral Hygienics' kit to anyone who enjoys the benefits of mineral makeup,
especially if you're new to highlighting and contouring (as I am), and want something that will last all day but not age your face.
Also, they include a handy cheat sheet on how to apply each product. Yay!
Want your own Mineral Hygienics goodies? They're offering my awesome readers 10% off, now through October 18th! Just use the coupon code: goddesslife.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
